Manchester Airport Disabled Facilities
Manchester Airport has good accessibility for passengers with special needs. Whenever there's a change of level or floor, lifts are provided with tactile buttons and voice synthesisers. Ramps are also available.
Telephones have been lowered, toilet facilities are provided and designated parking areas easing accessibility are provided in each of the car parks.
Facilities for the deaf and hard of hearing
Training is given in sign language to a wide cross-section of staff. An inductive coupler system is built into all public telephones throughout the Airport. Signs are situated throughout the Airport to assist passengers who may be deaf or hard of hearing. A minicom system on +44 (0)161 489 3561 is available at the information desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals.
Those with a hearing aid with a 'T' position, can receive enhanced announcements relayed over the public address system when standing close to the induction loops indicated by the ear symbol.
Facilities for the physically disabled
If you are non-walking and need extra assistance at the airport, firstly advise your travel agent and airline. Ambulifts, wheelchairs and electric buggies are available for use. Individual airlines will provide a any assistance needed, and customers need to request this from their specific airline in advance.
Disabled Airport Parking
In short stay car parks reserved bays are provided adjacent to lifts for your convenience. If you're travelling for 8 days or more and have a disabled badge you can arrange to park in a short stay car park (at long stay prices). To arrange this facility you must give at least 7 days notice by calling and booking on 44 (0) 161 489 3723. They'll ask you for dates of travel, car registration number and disabled badge number.
