Strike does not hit flights
01.09.09
A strike by aircraft refuellers at Manchester Airport caused minimal disruption for travellers - according to the airport. Around 28 airport staff employed by ASIG walked out at 05:00 yesterday and will not return to work until 12:45 today.
The workers, members of union Unite, are striking because their pay has been frozen this year. A spokesman for ASIG confirmed contingency plans are ensuring operations continue as normal. An airport spokesman said: 'We have had very few delays [on Monday] and as far as I'm aware none of them are as a result of the strike.'
