Aer Arann scrap Derry flight plans
03.05.10
Aer Arann has scrapped plans to launch flights from Derry Airport. At the start of March the Irish airline announced plans to launch flights between Derry and both Manchester and Edinburgh from May 20. However, on Friday the airline announced that the services had been 'suspended' because demand for the routes had ‘been very poor’ with fewer than 10 flight bookings.
Passengers who have booked a flight will receive full refunds. A spokesman said: 'We felt there was an opportunity based on reported demand, but that demand has not materialised. We have made the decision not to start routes that show no signs of being anything but loss making.’
