Passengers at Manchester Airport dropped by 6.95% last month, however the pace of decline slowed for the second month. Airport bosses stated the trend suggests confidence is returning to the market.
A total of 1.25m passengers passed through the airport's 3 terminals last month, down from 1.34m in March last year. This compares with a year-on-year decline of 10.66% in February and almost 14% in January.
Charter services saw the largest percentage drop in March, down by almost 13%, while domestic flights carried 6.5% fewer passengers and scheduled international passengers were down by 4.5%. An airport spokesperson stated ‘Passengers are down on 2009 however confidence is returning to the market and the deficit has narrowed.’
