Finnair launch mobile boarding passes

Finnair has introduced mobile boarding passes for passengers flying to Helsinki from Manchester Airport. The boarding passes can be sent directly to passengers’ mobile phones, replacing traditional paper boarding passes.
The mobile boarding pass contains a 2D bar code that can be read electronically at the airport. The pass also contains information on baggage and internet links for further information. Finnair’s UK sales director, Tomi Hänninen, said the move was part of the airline’s environmental strategy.
Mobile phones need to be connected to the internet to open the link passengers are sent, and a backup system using traditional paper boarding passes is in place.
