Two new bmibaby flights take off
19.06.08
bmibaby launched flights to Madrid and Lisbon from Manchester Airport this week. The new route to Lisbon is twice weekly - each Tuesday and Sunday - whilst flights to Madrid operate four times a week - on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Crawford Rix, managing director at bmibaby, said: ‘The current economic climate is not dampening people's desire to travel. We've seen an increase in the number of people traveling on short breaks from Manchester Airport, and our passenger numbers for Lisbon and Madrid are testament to this. In the first week we will carry more than 1400 passengers on these new routes.’
He said that the airline's inaugural flight to Lisbon was 95% full and Madrid was 80% full, while forward bookings were ‘extremely encouraging’. Next up for bmibaby at Manchester Airport is a four-times-a-week service to Barcelona starting in September.
