Two people appeared in court late last week over a plot to smuggle £62,000 worth of cannabis into the country via Manchester Airport.
Kris Carroll, 26, of Willesden, London, a painter and decorator, was remanded in custody after being charged along with Zoe Anderson, 30, of Neasden, London, a pub cleaner, for the illegal importation of around 21.4 kilos of cannabis. Both arrived on a flight from Montego Bay, Jamaica. Ms Anderson was granted bail.
Officers from the UK Border Agency searched their baggage and discovered the drugs concealed in rum boxes. The pair appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday but did not enter a plea. The case was adjourned until September 25.
