Manchester was named airport of the year at the Travel Trade Gazette Awards, which are voted for by travel agents and independent industry observers. It beat Luton, Southampton and Birmingham airports to pick up the gong.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: ‘We are extremely proud to have secured such a highly prized award. Voted for by industry experts, it is a real tribute to the efforts of the 19,000 people who work at our airport.’
