Police called after easyJet cancel flight
24.12.09
Police were called to calm angry passengers at Manchester Airport today after their Christmas getaway plans were thrown into chaos, the Evening News reports. The police officers were asked to attend the easyJet check-in desk in Terminal 3 after the airline cancelled its only flight today from Manchester to Alicante.
Around 100 passengers were due to fly with the airline, with many planning to jet out to spend the festive period with friends and family. But their hopes were dashed when staff announced that the early morning Christmas Eve flight – which was the airline's last departure to Alicante from the airport before Christmas - had been cancelled.
The police were called after a furious passengers confronted staff when they learned of the cancellation. One man was acting 'aggressively' towards staff but had left before the police arrived. The officers remained at the desk until the crowd had dispersed and no arrests were made.
