New planes increase XL capacity at Manchester Airport
25.05.08
XL Airways is to expand the number of seats it offers on several routes from Manchester Airport. The holiday airline will begin using new Boeing 737-900s from the airport on May 29 this year.
With a 215 seat capacity, the new planes have 26 more seats than their predecessor 737-800s, meaning there will be more seats for passengers on XL's flights from the hub. Destinations served by the airline from Manchester include Spain, the Canary Islands and Egypt.
In addition to their higher seat capacity, the 737-900s are also more efficient, using 2.5% less fuel per passenger than the 737-800s on an average journey, which further reduces the airline's per passenger costs. XL flies more than 750,000 passengers through Manchester each year.
