easyJet launch flights from Manchester

easyJet begins flights from its new base at Manchester Airport today. The budget airline's new flights - launched as a result of the takeover of GB Airways - include to holiday hotspots Tenerife, Paphos, Malaga, Malta and Heraklion.
As part of the launch the airline wants to 'paint the city orange', with an orange easyJet fun bus is touring Manchester calling at Piccadilly Gardens, Corporation Street, Deansgate, Oxford Street and Church Street. Mancunians can hop on the bus for an opportunity to win easyJet prizes including flights and holidays to summer sun destinations from Manchester.
Airport MD, Andrew Cornish, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome easyJet to Manchester. It is a vibrant and ambitious airline that will offer our passengers a popular range of routes at excellent prices.'
The airline expects to carry over half a million passengers from Manchester in the next year and says it is committed to further growth in the region in the near future.
The new six routes launched today are: Heraklion twice weekly (Tuesday and Friday) from £32.99, Malta and Malaga daily from £29.99, Paphos seven weekly (Monday, Wednesday (x2), Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (x2) from £32.99, Tenerife five weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from £32.99 and Innsbruck Weekly (Sunday) until April 20 from £27.99.
