Manchester Airport Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is in the main airport complex and is the terminal furthest from the M56 access road. It is clearly signposted and is next to Terminal 3 - the British Airways and Domestic terminal. It handles international and charter flights and services to the Irish Republic.

The terminal has its own short stay airport parking facilities with dedicated bays for disabled drivers. Charter passengers with Airtours have a seperate check-in area on the lower level of the terminal and a seperate dropping off area. The terminal is linked to Terminal 3 British Airways and Domestic by walkways.

Departures Landside

ATMs: in arrivals - Barclays, Link and NatWest in main concourse accept most cards.

Bank: full banking service from branch of Co-op Bank.

Business Centre: Located on the mezzanine floor between Domestic Arrivals and Departures. Open Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00. Telephone +44 (0)161 437 8787.

Currency: two bureaux de change - Travelex, open 05:30 - 20:00 and ICE open 05:00 - 23:00 Monday - Thursday, 05:00 - 24:00 Friday - Sunday.

Information Desk: the main information desk is located in arrivals. Courtesy phones link passengers directly to the information desk, look for the blue phones. There is no information link from Departures.

Left Luggage: On Arrivals level in corridor to Airtours check-in. Also deals with lost and found property. Open 06:00-22:00, £2 per item up to 12 hours.

Pay Phones: In catering and shopping areas.

Postal Services: Mail boxes and stamp machine in shopping area. Nearest Post Office in Arrivals.

Prayer Room: There is a prayer room for all faiths on the mezzanine level near the food

Food and Drink: Main food and drink outlets are located on the mezzanine level in the Meridian Food Court. There is a good choice of outlets and excellent views of the airport.

Meals and Snacks: Garfunkels, Lancaster Brasserie and Meridian Foodcourt (with Burger King, Café Ritazza, Country Kitchen, Harry Ramsden's, The Ice Creamery, New Covent Garden Soup, Pizza Hut and Upper Crust Snacks)

Drinks: Donkey Stone Pub Bar

Shopping: A reasonable selection of outlets is available selling leisure wear, gifts, confectionery and reading matter.

Spectators Terrace: Steps near the Domestic end of Terminal 1. There is a lift in International Departures at the left hand end of the check-in hall. Admission is free. The Aviation Shop on the terrace caters for enthusiasts.

Smoking Area: Smoking is allowed at Meeting Points and in some seated areas of lounges.

Toilets: Before passport control there are four toilet facilities. Baby change rooms are located in the women's toilet in the shopping area and also in the food concourse. Most toilets have disabled facilities. After passport control there are two toilets, one with disabled and both with baby care facilities.

Departures - Airside

Currency: One Bureaux de Change, Travelex open from first flight to last flight.

Food and Drink: After passport control is a small range of food and beverage outlets.

Snacks & Refreshments: Cafe Metro, Starbucks Coffee and Veranda Cafe Bar
Drinks: Good Sports Bar Bar and Sungate Pub Bar

Information Desk: No desk but blue phones provide a link to the information service.

Pay Phones: Throughout the lounge.

Postal Services: None Airside - mail letters before clearing security and passport control.

Smoking Area: Smoking is allowed in some seated areas of lounges.

Toilets: Two toilet areas - one near the Veranda Cafe Bar, the other behind Tsunami.

Shopping: There is a reasonable selection of Duty Free shopping outlets Airside, including:

Domestic Arrivals - Airside

Toilets: With baby change and disabled facilities in Baggage Reclaim.

Pay Phones: Located on left of entrance to Baggage Reclaim.

Domestic Arrivals - Landside

Airport Parking: There is a link to the Short Stay car park and a bus to Long Stay parking outside the terminal. Car park pay machines and pay desk are near the exit doors.

ATMs: near steps to mezzanine level - Barclays, Link and NatWest machines cover most cards.

Bus: services to Manchester city and other destinations leaves from Terminal 1 International Arrivals. Access from mezzanine floor.

Business Centre: Located on the mezzanine floor between Domestic Arrivals and Departures. Open Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00. Telephone +44 (0)161 437 8787.

Car Hire: Major companies located opposite terminal under the multi-storey airport car park.

Currency: one bureau de change, ICE open 07:00 - 19:00, and a Co-op Bank.

Food and Drink: one self service restaurant plus the Rendezvous Café.

Information Desk: in arrivals hall.

Left Luggage: Silverwings located in main Arrivals concourse. Also handles lost property. Open 06:00 - 22:00. £2 per item up to 12 hours.

Pay Phones: available in public lounge near exits. Free blue phones provided for airport information service.

Postal Services: Mail boxes and stamp machine near stairs to mezzanine.

Shopping: There is a hairdresser catering for men, women and children.

Smoking Area: Smoking is allowed at Meeting Points and in some seated areas of lounges.

Taxi: taxi rank outside the terminal exit on forecourt.

Toilets: Facilities with disabled and baby care needs are provided in the baggage reclaim area and at the end of the Arrivals lounge.

Train: access to walkway linking Terminal 1 with the Rail Station and Terminal 2 is from the mezzanine floor. Note - there is no longer a courtesy bus service to the Rail Station or Terminal 2. If you are heading for the Train Station from Domestic Arrivals allow for a 5-10 minute walk.

International Arrivals - Airside

Toilets: with disabled facilities in baggage reclaim. No baby change facilities.

Pay Phones: in baggage reclaim.

International Arrivals - Landside

Airport Parking: Access to Short Stay car park is by stairs and lifts. Bus service to Long Stay outside the terminal. Car park pay machines inside Arrivals hall near lifts and stairs.
Taxi: Taxi rank on forecourt.

ATMs: American Express, Barclays and Midland. One opposite Left Luggage, the others next to photo booth in corridor to Departures.

Bus: For the Bus Station go to the forecourt and turn right.

Car Rental: All major companies located in main Arrivals hall.

Currency: Two Bureaux de Change, Thomas Cook open 06:30 to 22:00 and ICE open 05:00-20:00. Thomas Cook provides limited banking services for Midland; full banking service by Co-op Bank at ICE.

Food and Drink: Coffee, snacks and light refreshments.

Information Desk: In Arrivals Hall. Also information via blue phones is provided at various points. Tourist information desk in Arrivals hall near catering area open 09:00-17:30 Mon-Fri, 09:00-12:30 Sat.

Left Luggage: Office located near corridor to Departures open 06:00-22:00, £2 per item up to 12 hours. Also deals with lost property.

Pay Phones: Baggage Claim and Arrivals Hall are well provided with telephones located at frequent and convenient points.

Postal Services: Full mail service in Arrivals Hall.

Shopping: Newspaper/books and a luggage shop.

Smoking Area: Smoking is allowed at Meeting Points and in some seated areas of lounges.

Toilets: There are three toilets with disabled facilities and one with baby care (women only). Baby care is next to the catering area.

Train: There is a moving walkway to Terminal 2 and the Rail Station.
